The oldest coinage in Tagnaas comes from around Lake Friathwa, and variations on their names for different coins spread outwards from there. The names of Imperial coins still bear their influence.

Calendar

With one global Empire, everyone follows the same calendar, simply referred to as the Imperial Calender. All dates are relative to the birth of the First Emperor, with the first month starting around the end of the Annual Inversion.

Dates before this are demarcated Before the Empire (BE), so for example 400 years before the First Emperor was born would be 400 BE. Years afterwards are considered part of the Imperial Age (IA), so 400 years after the birth of the First Emperor would be 400 IA.

The year is broken up into 11 months, the first 10 being 28 days long, and the last being 35 and centered around the Annual Inversion. They are in order: Hantezziya, Tanpedan, Teriyana, Mieana, Pantan, Sweksan, Saptaman, Aitatan, Nuntatan, Dekuman, and Hatkesnu. Every 5th year an additional monthless day is added to the calendar after Hatkesnu called Emperor's Day, except every 35 years when two Emperor's Days must be added. Every 385 years that second day must be skipped.

The first ten months have 4 7-day weeks which are named Rising, Ahead, Falling, and Behind. Hatkesnu adds a fifth week called Relief, when the storms on the East begin to weaken before the end of the Inversion. The days are then simply numbered 1st to 7th. So, an example full date could be: 2nd Falling Sweksan, 1568 IA.
